Hi guys its me Adrienne and Im gonna talk about a movie from a different country again. It is a movie from India and it features one of my favorite songs from the pussycat dolls Jai Ho which I read in english is “let victory prevail”. The movie is Slumdog Millionaire.
It is directed by Danny Boyle. It is very intense in the beggining funny at some parts then sad and intense again because well the main character jumps on poop but later his mother died. It is a rollercoaster ride.
The story begins with Jamal Malik (Dev Patel). He is tortured because they think he cheated in who wants to be a millionaire. But he says he can explain how he answer correctly the questions.
He said he knows the first answer because the answer is the most famous man in india. He said his mother died because people fight because of religion thats why I choose to be atheist. Thats how he know the second answer. His brother Salim and girl friend Latika are now orphan after the religion fight. They are taken by a man to be beggars and they paractice a song that make him know the third answer. He escape with his brother but left Latika and he was teenager in Taj Mahal. He stole shoes and sell them and trick people he is a tour guide and he gets $100 thats why he got the next answer right. He and his brother rescue Latika from becoming prostitute and his brother killed the man that took them with a revolver and his brother became crazy and aim the revolver at him thats why he knows the next answer. His brother made him leave and he was separated.
He became a call center agent and look at the london map which made him know another answer. He search for Latika in the computer but there was too many so he search his brothers name. He finds him and meet up. His brother Salim is now adult (Madhur Mittal)
He ask where Latika is but he didnt answer so he follow him to a house where Latika (Freida Pinto) is now houswife of Salims boss.
Latika and Jamal was making sandwich for the boss after jamal pretends to be a dish washer. The boss was watching cricket but he didn’t pay attention. He was planning to escape with Latika but when they fail he joined who wants to be a millionaire so she could watch him. Too bad he didn’t know the answer to the second to the last question because it was about cricket. But earlier the host had a plan to make Jamal wrong. Jamal saw this coming and picked a different answer which made the host mad and accuse him of cheating.
The police believe him and take him back to the show. Salim had a change of heart and let latika escape. She was able to talk to Jamal during a life line and Jamal won 5000000 rupees.
Well the movie shows that a millionaire can come from anywhere. And luck has nothing to do with destiny. It is written and victory will prevail.
